The Challenge
Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company is a Gulf Coast staple with a long-standing reputation and loyal following. Under new ownership, the brand needed a refresh that could reconnect with existing customers while appealing to a new generation.
The challenge was evolution without erasure — creating a system that preserved the brand’s Southern character while improving clarity, consistency, and shelf presence across packaging, merchandise, and marketing.
The approach focused on maintaining familiarity while introducing structure and cohesion.
I leaned into vintage textures, warm color palettes, and storytelling-driven layouts to preserve the brand’s heritage, while refining typography and composition to improve readability and consistency.
The goal was to create a system that felt handcrafted and local, yet polished enough to compete on modern shelves and across digital platforms.

The refresh extends across logo, packaging, and brand applications — creating a cohesive yet flexible identity.
The logo was refined to improve balance, hierarchy, and scalability, resulting in a mark that feels familiar but functions more effectively across all touchpoints.
Packaging became the core of the system. Each beer was designed as a distinct expression within a unified visual framework — allowing individual personality while maintaining strong brand recognition. Core products were updated with subtle, heritage-driven refinements, while seasonal releases introduced more expressive color and illustration.
The system carries through to merchandise and marketing, with apparel, accessories, and digital content designed to feel wearable, shareable, and consistent with the brand’s easygoing Southern identity.

The refreshed identity provides Lazy Magnolia with a cohesive and scalable brand system that works across packaging, retail environments, and marketing channels.
This project strengthened my ability to design within an established brand — balancing creative exploration with restraint. It reinforced the importance of consistency at scale, and how thoughtful design decisions can modernize a brand without losing what makes it recognizable.
